Day 2/5/2025
Blog 1:
Hello everyone! Since this is my first ever BlogPost/time posting in this Chat I thought I would introduce myself here. My username is allahrts and I am a 2D animation and still learning storyboard artist.
I am currently earning my MFA in Animation, and I am
Currently taking a class in which I will be creating two animatics from start to finish, from Concept, storyboards, and finally Animatic stage.
I also needed a place to record my weekly work goals, and I thought it would be cool to take a group of people on a journey of my work from beginning to end. Right now I am in the early stages of coming up with a concept for my first storyboard.
The first thing I started with was coming up with a logline. For this I just turned my brain off and tried to come up with as many random plots off the top of my head in rapid succession.
-A First date w/ judy bloom
-Two friends playing ball when they discover an alien is living in their ball.
-Cupid struggles to get a date on Valentines day
-An anxious dog tries to fall asleep but their anxiety keeps them up.
-An anxious boy gets ready for his date, but everything keeps going wrong.
-A cat and a hedgehog search for the key to the universe
-A little boy hides
-A cat and a cow dance under the moonlight
-Hide and seek the musical
-A little gnome climbing a mountain
-A giant mouse and a tiny cat
-Doggo getting to sleep.
A tiny Gnome tries to climb over a boulder.
2 Mushroom folk Are trying to get over a mushroom
A tiny young adventurer and her companion need to get over this boulder.
The milkman and the mailman get into a fight
A beaver learns the meaning of friendship
The nurse is a germaphobe
Dr.Dotomuch goes on vacation
A worm throws a killer rave, literally.
A clown learns to Dance.
Then From the list of rough logline ideas I begin to sketch out the ideas that I like the best.
There’s two ideas so far that I like best. So from here I took the two Loglines and created rough story ideas from both. I created rough moodboards, character goals, A beginning, middle, and End, and then rough concept art and thumbnails to get an idea across for how the storyboards would look.
Story Idea 1:
Moodboard:

Logline:
Lemmy is getting ready for his big first date, but everything keeps going wrong.
Characters:
Lemmy- A short Rabbit
Tilly- A cute Girl
Character Personality:
Lemmy- Anxious, overthinker, hyperactive, clueless, kind, not the brightest.
Tilly- Sweet, go-getter, brave, friendly, smart.
Character Goal:
Lemmy: Make a good first impression w/Date and have a good character.
Beginning:
Lemmy is getting ready for the big date, making a cake for their dinner. Lemmy puts a cake in an oven, proud of his work he goes into the bathroom to wash his hands and get ready.
Middle:
As Remmy is getting ready he notices his own anxious face in the mirror and tries to puff himself up, practicing introducing himself to her over and over. Smoke starts to fill from the kitchen. Lemmy runs into the kitchen to discover his stove about to catch on fire, pulling out the charred remains of a cake.
End:
The door knocks, and Lemmy starts freaking out, unsure of what to do or where to toss the cake. Lemmy looks down at the cake and grimaces. (Offscreen eats the disgusting cake.) He opens the door to see Tilly standing there, holding something behind her back. She pulls back to reveal a cake made just for him there, and he looks a little sick from all the awful cake he just ate, but happy.

Story Idea 2:
Mood Board:

Logline:
A young Adventurer and her companion embark on their most perilous mission yet.
Characters:
Nancy Shellbottom- A young Girl
Mushie- Her mushroom companion
Cat- a cat.
Character Personality:
Nancy Shellbottom- Adventurous, creative, imaginative, brave, loyal
Mushie- Dopey, naive, clumsy, nervous, loyal,
Cat- Mischievous, sneaky, hungry, playful.
Character Goal:
To get the golden yarn ball undetected.
Short Summary:
Young Adventurer Nancy Shellbottom is adventuring with her companion/Sidekick Mushie, her sentient Giant Mushroom, to grab the golden yarn, but she has to be careful as a big, giant, cat is standing in her way. It’s heavily implied that this is all in Nancy's imagination, and none of this is real
Beginning:
Nancy Shellbottom and Mushie are sneaking around massive traps, following a treasure map to what looks to be a giant glowing Yarn Ball. They look up to reveal a giant sleeping cat, coiled around a pedestal which holds the glowing Yarn ball.
Middle:
The two sneak around the giant cat, having a near close call. They get to the pedestal and pick up the golden yarn. Thinking their adventure has been successfully completed they give a victory high five. A shadow falls over them, they turn to see the cat staring down at them.
End:
The cat leaps at them, claws raised, and Mushie jumps in front oof her. we then cut to reality where the cat launches at the stuffed mushroom plush, and we zoom out to reveal a little girls bedroom, where the entire adventure has been taking place. Nancy removes the cat from her plush, and we cut back to the two adventurers, narrowly escaping the dungeon.

Rough Concept Art:

The only thing I haven’t created yet is a rough script and more detailed concept art/thumbnail art. I can’t do that though until I pick which story to go with. From here I will create more in depth thumbnails, top downs, and a script, in which I will use to start my storyboards off. For now though that’s the work I’ve completed for this week. Tune in to my blog post next week to hear which story I’ve chosen and all the Pre-Production work I’ve accomplished!
Bye Bye for now.
