Hello everyone! It's been a few weeks since I've last made a blog.
After the last blog I took a quick break for a week. I had a lot of life stuff happening and hadn't had much time to sit at my desk to work. Besides that, I was also beginning to border on burnout and needed some time to just breath.
The first thing I did when I returned was to do some research. I researched more completed storyboards, and storyboard guides, and I found two different storyboard references. They were both storyboard guides from Big City greens, and they come from two different storyboard artists. I religiously read through them, and though they were pretty heavily focused on the style for the show, they still helped me get a good picture of a professional storyboard/animatic.
After that I rewatched my most recent animatic a few times to garner a fresh perspective. Almost immediately however, I realized a few crucial errors I had made. The first was that the style for my storyboards were all over the place, the quality was inconsistent, I was using way too many details, and a lot of the poses were rather bland.
I began practicing drawing the characters again, I wasn't planning on changing much of their design, obviously considering where I am at in the process, but I wanted to nail drawing them in a simplified style.
After I felt more comfortable drawing the characters I rewatched my animatic and began writing notes down, changing the style on some boards and reworking all my shots.
All this to say that it's been a rather busy week, and I am quite proud of my progress. There is still a lot that needs to be done before I am completely proud of my boards, but overall the workload is something slowly coming together.
Hope you all have had a good week, and I will speak with y'all next week!
